🧎🏽‍♀️ Come to Jesus and Find Rest

There are some burdens we were never meant to carry alone. The worry that follows us into the night. The questions we cannot answer. The heaviness we try to hide behind a smile. The responsibilities that keep piling up until our souls feel tired before the day even begins.

And yet, in Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus gives us an invitation that still reaches into our weary places today:

“Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

He does not tell us to clean ourselves up first. He does not tell us to figure everything out before we come. He does not tell us to pretend we are not tired. He simply says, “Come.” That word alone feels like mercy.

Jesus knows we will face hard things in this life. Being a Christian does not mean we get to avoid pain, disappointment, grief, stress, sickness, uncertainty, or difficult seasons. Faith does not remove every burden from our path.

But faith does remind us that we do not have to carry those burdens by ourselves.

Jesus tells us His yoke is easy and His burden is light. A yoke was used to connect two animals together so they could pull the weight as one. That means Jesus is not only inviting us to drop our burdens at His feet. He is inviting us to walk with Him, to learn from Him, and to let Him carry what is too heavy for us.

And He does this with gentleness. He says He is “gentle and lowly in heart.” Not harsh. Not impatient. Not disappointed that we are tired again. He meets us with humility, compassion, grace, and mercy.

Sometimes I think we try so hard to be strong that we forget Jesus never asked us to be strong without Him. We carry the worry, the fear, and the what-ifs. We also carry the pressure to hold everything together.

But Jesus is standing there, inviting us closer. “Come to Me.”

Not because life will always be easy. Not because every answer will come right away. Not because the road will suddenly be free of obstacles.

But because He is with us in it. He gives us peace while we are still walking through the valley. He gives us joy that does not depend on perfect circumstances. He gives us grace for today and mercy for tomorrow. He gives us strength when our own has run out.

So whatever burden you are carrying today, you can bring it to Jesus. You can lay it at His feet. You can trust Him with the outcome. You can believe that He is working all things together for your good, even when the process feels long, heavy, or unclear.

You do not have to carry it alone. Jesus is still saying, “Come.” And rest is still found in Him.

💬 A Thought for You

What burden have you been carrying that Jesus is inviting you to release?

Sometimes surrender does not happen all at once. Sometimes it sounds like a simple prayer whispered through tears:

“Lord, I cannot carry this by myself anymore.”

And that is enough. You can come to Him weary. You can come to Him overwhelmed. You can come to Him unsure. You can come to Him with trembling faith.

He will not turn you away.

🙏🏽 A Prayer

Lord Jesus,

Thank You for inviting me to come to You when I am weary and burdened. Thank You for not asking me to pretend I am stronger than I am. Help me to lay my worries, fears, and struggles at Your feet.

Teach me to walk with You instead of trying to carry everything on my own. Remind me that Your yoke is easy and Your burden is light. Give me peace in the middle of what I cannot control, joy in the middle of uncertainty, and grace for every step ahead.

I trust You to bring me through. I trust You to work all things together for my good. And I trust that I am never alone because You are with me. I give You all the glory, honor, and praise, in the name of Jesus, I pray, amen.

🙇🏽‍♀️ A Closing Thought

You were never meant to carry every burden alone.

Come to Jesus.
Lay it down.
Walk with Him.
Rest in His grace.

He is gentle enough to meet you where you are and strong enough to carry what you cannot.
