šŸ‘£ One Step Forward, Three Steps Back—and Still Standing

—

On January 29th, I stepped out in faith and hosted my virtual book launch. It was a moment I had prayed over, prepared for, and trusted God with. That night was filled with gratitude, encouragement, and the quiet confidence that comes from walking in obedience.

Late theĀ very next night, January 30th, I was admitted to the hospital.

An acute asthma attack came on quickly, and suddenly the celebration was followed by breathing treatments, monitors, and hospital lights. The good news is that my lung disease is stable. The hard part is needing a few days here to get my lungs calm and back to baseline.

It’s the definition of one step forward and three steps back.

And yet—I still have my joy.

I’m writing this blog from my hospital bed. Not defeated. Not angry. Not questioning God’s goodness. Instead, I’ve chosen to pray, praise, and worship right where I am.

I can still listen to worship music. I can still hum along. I can still sing softly to the Lord. I can still feel His presence reminding me that He has not left me, not on the night of the launch and not in this hospital room.

This setback is not a surprise to God. It’s not a punishment. And it’s not the end of the story.

This too will pass. And He will sustain me.

I refuse to give the enemy my joy. Satan will just have to be mad—because he cannot stop what God has for me.

A Thought for You šŸ’¬

Faith doesn’t disappear when life gets hard; it shows up differently.

Sometimes faith looks like bold obedience.
Sometimes it looks like quiet worship from a hospital bed.
Both are acts of trust.

You can celebrate a victory and face a setback at the same time—and still be standing in God’s will.

A Closing Thought šŸ™‡šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

Progress isn’t always linear.
Obedience doesn’t guarantee ease.
But joy is still a choice.

Whether you’re stepping forward or feeling pushed back, God is still working. He is still present. And He is still carrying you—breath by breath, moment by moment.

One step forward. Three steps back.
Still standing. Still trusting. Still His.

A Prayer For You šŸ™šŸ½

Gracious Heavenly Father,
Thank You for meeting us in both the mountaintop moments and the hospital rooms.
Thank You for sustaining us when our bodies are weak, and our circumstances shift suddenly. Help us choose praise over despair and trust over fear. Remind us that setbacks do not cancel Your promises. You are faithful forever and always.
In the precious and matchless name of Jesus, amen.
